Digipak Research

Stevie Wonder (Hotter than July):

The album cover of Stevie Wonder's "Hotter than July" features a colorful and vivid design that reflects the lively and energetic feel of the music within.

Front:

  • The front of the digipak shows an illustration of Stevie Wonder sweating, giving the buyer the idea that he is under the sun taking the name title ¨Hotter than July¨ in a literal way. The colours used for this illustration represent the stereotypical colour assignated to a summer day

  • The typography chosen in the CD excels a personal yet nonchalant design, at the same time the artists name is presented before the name of the album which highlights the star power behind the famous name ¨Stevie Wonder¨

Back:

  • The back part of the digipak once again repeats both the name of the artist and the album and then is followed by the list of songs included in the album

The design of the "Hotter than July" album cover effectively captures the essence of Stevie Wonder's music and personality, using bold colors, lively illustrations, and eye-catching typography to create a memorable and visually striking image.

Beyonce (Renaissance):

The album Renaissance by Beyonce can be seen as a statement by the Artis of her the new image she wants to portray

Front:

  • The cover of the CD displays Beyonce with minimal clothing on top of a horse, given the fact that the word 'Renaissance' is French and mean ¨rebirth¨or ¨revival¨ gives the idea of a new era for the artist. Horses during the Renaissance era had an important role and displayed power, wealth and prestige, this portrays as strategic movement by Beyonce in transforming her brand identity into one that shows status and ellegance. The addition of a black background makes the viewer concentrate on the image and be submerged by the message created

Back:

  • The back of the CD, once again, prioritises the colour black. This minimalistic approach to the back design reinforces the idea that viewers attention should be solely focused on the front design. This helps the audience concentrate on the artist and her empowering move towards her music.

Both the front and the back of the CD don't highlight the name of the album or the artist's name, this demonstrates the huge star power Beyonce has as she can be easily identified by her physical presence and does not need branding to be recognised
